If you are on your feet for long shifts, Hawx work boots are worth the cost—as long as the pair you receive has the protective markings you need.

If you want eye protection that people will actually wear, Pit Viper safety glasses are a good option, but only if they carry the Z87+ mark. Style is nice. Standards are better.

If your budget is truly tight, use generic gear only for low-risk tasks, and keep the performance-grade gloves, boots, and glasses for chemical, electrical, and high-impact jobs.

The conclusion is not that premium PPE is always the answer. The conclusion is that consistency, traceability, and long-run cost should drive the comparison. On those dimensions, the performance route wins more often than not.

And if you noticed a flashing red light on a fire alarm panel while you were reading this, take it seriously. Showa gloves, Hawx boots, and Pit Viper glasses only work when they are part of a bigger culture of paying attention. A red alarm light is a message. Do not leave it on read.
